Plan for Re-opening
Unfortunately, our timeline for reopening our building has been waylaid by a foot wound that despite a year and a half of medical care, has recently worsened. We have (in our spare time) been working to convert our building back into a full-service restaurant, with fresh paint, new flooring in some areas and a rearrangement of our floor plan, but all projects have been put on hold while the wound heals.
We have come to the realization that our pre-pandemic business model is not going to work in the post-pandemic world. Things have changed a lot in the last three years...food costs, labor shortages, and health and safety practices, not to mention that we are older and have less desire to regularly work 16 hour days!
Please see the information below regarding the changes we will be implementing as we begin to move forward.
We are continuing to offer Back Porch Pick Up and have a walled shelter with a heater where you can enjoy your meal in comfort from the weather. The tent is not meant to be used in Winter weather conditions, so has been taken down until early Spring 2023.
The shelter has a self-service station with hot water for tea, as well as disposable cups, plates, cutlery and napkins. Please let us know when placing your order if you wish to use the shelter, so we can schedule accordingly
Our back porch entrance to the building will re-open for access to the restroom once the weather improves. Masks are required inside the building.
We do not have any projected date to reopen for inside dining. The foot wound, along with teh current high food costs and the shortage of food service workers are huge challenges for our family-operated small business.
if and when we reopen, we will have a different business model than we did prior to Covid. We will be rearranging our dining areas to create more distance between tables and dining will be by reservation only from Friday - Sunday.
(If we do open inside, we will continue to offer our Back Porch Pick Up Menu on Wednesdays and Thursdays only, with picnic tables and shelter available in the front garden.)
Our menu for inside dining will include only a single multi-course afternoon tea service. The set menu themes will change seasonally and the price for each tea will be determined when the menu is announced.
You will prepay for your party at the time of making the reservation. Cancellations will be refunded with 24 hours advance notice, and store credit will be given with same day notice by 10:00am.
For less expensive options, the Back Porch Pick Up Menu, available Wednesdays and Thursdays, will continue offering the Larkspur and Hollyhock tea sets as well as other preset meals.
Inside dining reservations will include a service charge, so that we can equitably compensate our entire staff. No further gratuity is required.
The largest party we will be able to accommodate is 10.
Due to the food service labor shortage, we will not be offering gluten-free tea sets until further notice.
We may be able to accommodate other food allergies, with notice when making your reservation.
