What’s New The tulips are now starting to bloom beneath the horse chestnut tree, so it’s clear that Spring is here! We are enjoying watching Viola discover birds and squirrels and flowers in the yard. With the weather warming, it’s a great time to visit Sumner and enjoy the quaint small-town atmosphere and soak up some Spring sunshine!
We have just returned from a buying trip to Dallas, and are excited about the fun merchandise we found for our gift shop. New products have already begun trickling in…fabulous jackets and lace patchwork shirts, baby gifts and individually packaged lotion towelettes, called “Spa Towells” are among the first arrivals, with lots more on the way. Come see our new finds!
Just in time for Mother’s Day, we are pleased to offer instant gift certificates. You can choose from various occasions and create a gift certificate which can be printed or emailed so that the recipient can print out the certificate. You can purchase a specific dollar amount from $25 to $150, or select one of our “Tea for Two” certificates. See links on the left for access to this part of our website.
Please note that effective April 12th we have implemented a small price increase in the tea room. The menu pages on this website have been updated to reflect our current prices. As I’m sure you have experienced on your own grocery store bills, food costs have skyrocketed in the last few months, so we are increasing our prices by about ten percent to offset some of the increased cost. We have chosen to increase our prices rather than cut our expenses by using lesser quality ingredients, so you will continue to experience the farm-fresh, homemade tastes you expect from us. We are certain you will find our portions, food quality and ‘white linen’ ambience a good value.
May 10th and 11th, we will celebrate Mother’s Day with a very special tea event. A lovely four-course tea will be presented and includes a special full-size keepsake china tea cup for each guest. This is a ticketed event, meaning tickets are to be purchased at the time of making reservations. Click on our Special Events page to see all the details.
Upcoming Closures
May 23rd –25th Memorial Day Weekend We will be closed Friday through Sunday of this holiday weekend so that we can do several maintenance projects on the house.
Sumner Happenings Downtown Sumner is a fabulous day-outing with lots of great shops and antiques, as well as the beautiful and well-stocked Windmill Gardens Nursery.
